Mission: To Boldly Go
Location: Various
Timeline: Day 4 - crew board the Fenrir

ON:

Being nearly 7ft tall and as bulky as 2 Nausicaan's combined had both its advantages and disadvantages as Petty Officer S'Ralor knew quite well, you could be seen a long way away and stood out in a crowd but when you walked down a corridor people moved out your way especially when that bulk was part of an intimidating black furred mass of teeth and claws. And as a security officer an intimidating figure often worked just as well as the type II phaser carried at his hip.

Arriving before the crew were allowed onto the ship he'd had quite the boring time on the mars station but the moment permission was given for them to embark he was there exploring every little nook and cranny on the ship, all the spots where someone could hide themselves or something they shouldn't have and didn't want anyone to find.

"Bollocks!" the full weight of Gabriel Stark slammed into the black fur of S'Ralor...although, it was fair to say that the full weight of the lean man was nothing compared to the caitian. He'd been on his way to check out the security office and gotten completely distracted by a fellow crew member that had passed him....and run bang smack into his soon to be colleague.

Not 100% paying attention to where he was walking himself S'Ralor was pushed back ever so slightly by the human walking straight into him, he stepped backwards a large pace and looked at the man in question. "My apologies Sir." He said noting the mans slightly superior rank; that of petty officer first class, to his own

"No, no, my bloody fault," Gabriel muttered, clearly annoyed with himself as he ran his hands through his dark hair as if to neaten it. He looked at the roadblock in his path then, actually looked at him...well...looked up at him. "And I have no clue how I missed you..." he said with awe at the size of him.

"I do tend to stand out in a crowd." S'Ralor said, "It can come in handy as a security officer." He noted the mans red collar meaning he was potentially the same department.

"Security? Hey!" Gabriel grinned, grabbing him by the hand and slapping his shoulder in a comradely fashion. "Me too! Good to meet a fellow peace keeper, I'm Gabriel. Gabriel Stark."

S'Ralor gripped Gabriel's hand, the man had quite the firm grip. "I'm S'Ralor, good to meet you too."

"S'Ralor..." he repeated to commit it to memory, letting him go to take a better look at him and then further down the corridor. "Want to go and take a peak at our new Security Office? Take dibs on the best seats?"

"I have not met our boss yet." S'Ralor said. "It would be good if he was there to meet too."

"Two birds, one stone," Gabriel nodded with approval as he started to walk in the direction of the office. Or at least, the direction he remembered from the deck plans. "Work smart, work less," he teased him.

Falling quickly into step with the human S'Ralor followed Stark down the corridors.

In his office Daniel read from a Padd, with only himself and his assistant chief onboard there was little practical stuff for them to do right now apart from plenty of preparation for when the rest of his department did arrive. He read through the first draft of the training regime Aria had sent him and it appeared to be very thorough.

Gabriel cleared his throat as he glanced to S'Ralor to check he was ready, tugging his own jacket into a neater line before pressing the chime. The jovial nature of the young man had faded off, replaced by a more professional, serious mask.

S'Ralor gave a curt nod of readiness.

"Come in." Daniels voice called out from the other side of the door.

Gabriel led the way through, but pulled up with a respectful distance between them and the desk. With a record like his, it was good to try and make as good a first impression as possible. "S'Ralor and Stark reporting, Sir..."

Daniel looked up from his desk, and kept going up as he took in the sheer size of S'Ralor, after a few moments he cleared his throat. "At ease, welcome onboard Petty Officers, I'm Lieutenant Commander Masters. I'm very glad to see that some of my staff have finally shown up, was beginning to worry we'd have to set off with only myself and my deputy chief."

Gabriel grinned at the prospect, chuckling as he shook his head lightly, his hands clasping comfortably behind his back. "Couldn't let the officers have all the fun, Sir...."

"Providing security for a ship with just two staff isn't exactly fun," Daniel said though not intending the remark to come across as a rebuff. "at least we can begin to familiarize ourselves with the ship and its strong and weak points now we have the two of you."

"I assume there will be more than just the four of us." S'Ralor asked.

Daniel nodded. "From what Commander Blake told me there are at least another ten days before our estimated departure time, there will be staff from all the departments arriving during that time."

S'Ralor nodded slightly in understanding, it made sense, he'd arrived before they were even allowed onto the ship, there were very few people around. "A ship this size warrants a department of around 30 I believe."

Gabriel had to resist the urge to sigh with satisfaction and relief. What a luxury...a real full team with enough staff for a proper shift rotation. "Do we know if we're expecting any trouble yet?"

"I don't know where we're going to be operating yet," Daniel replied with a slight shrug. "could be core worlds could be the frontier but it's our job to expect trouble anywhere we go and be prepared to counter it."

Gabriel nodded lightly; be ready for anything, he could live with that. It was pretty much a Security mantra by now. "Is there anything you need from us in the mean time, Sir?"

"For now, no." Daniel replied. "Familiarise yourself with the ship and the crew. When the rest of the department arrives we will be undertaking physical and tactical training exercises." He let out an ever so slight chuckle. "I doubt you will have any trouble with the former S'Ralor."

S'Ralor flashed a rather toothy grin. "Definitely not Sir."

Gabriel chuckled too, unable to help it as he glanced to the sizeable colleague next to him. He had to agree. "Well, 'Commander, it might look like S'Ralor here could snap me in half, I assure you I can at least hold my own when it comes to the fight." He didn't want his new boss thinking he had a skinny little weakling to worry about.

"Size has its advantages and its disadvantages too." Daniel said to both of them. "I have seen a seven foot Nausicaan go down from a single well placed punch."

Gabriel leant forward slightly and lowered his voice, to give the air of mock gossiping. "Was it you that did it, Sir?" he asked with a touch of playfulness to his voice, unable to help himself.

Daniel laughed quite heartily. "Unfortunately not, that was another security officer, I was on my arse after taking a dom'jot cue to the head. And all for a simple drunk and disorderly call."

Gabriel couldn't help but laugh with him, slapping the back of his hand against S'Ralor's middle in a comradely fashion. "Just watch, we'll be renamed the Hellcats before you know it..."

"Speak for yourself, I already am." S'Ralor joined in with a hearty laugh. "Before I joined Starfleet I was anyway"

"A wild child in your youth were you? Daniel asked.

S'Ralor huffed. "You could say that Sir, have the marks to prove it, the military tempered me quite a bit but in the right ways...... eventually."

Gabriel chuckled softly to himself at the description. Yeah, they were going to get on just fine. It was good to know he wasn't going to be alone in combat training. Not all security officers were fussed with it, being more tactically minded, but S'Ralor was going to keep him on his toes, he could tell. "Are we going to have to start keeping score?" he teased him.

"We'll have to see if you're as good as you think you are S'Ralor." Daniel remarked, he had few doubts that the huge Caitian was as good as he thought he was but there was always the chance that he was all bluster and image. "When the rest of the department gets here and our training regime begins."

S'Ralor gave an enthusiastic growl. "I look forward to it Sir."

"Good." Daniel smiled at them men. "You're both dismissed."

Gabriel nodded to him with respect, pausing just a moment so he could fall into step with S'Ralor on the way out. "Well that didn't go too badly," he leant to him with a hushed voice. "Here's hoping we won't be pulling every worst job from here on out..."

"I think we will be just fine Stark." S'Ralor said, he thought the meeting had gone well, they just needed to prove it when it came to training. "Join me for a drink? if there even is a bar on this ship."

Gabriel laughed softly as he nodded, sliding his hands into his pockets as he led him towards the lift. "As if I'd have come here if there wasn't..."
